Ishtar
is the Babylonian goddess of birth, death, and rebirth, descendent of the Sumerian
goddess, Inanna and related to Astarte. She is associated with the planet Venus
and passionate sexuality. Lapis lazuli, her stone, represents the creative waters
of the earth and the transcending nature of heaven.
