Hecate
(pronounced heh-kah-tey) is the Greek moon goddess of darkness
and magic. Hecate is a crone who would walk the roads at
night accompanied by packs of dogs and carrying a blazing torch.
People honored her by leaving offerings at the places where three
roads crossed. As a crone goddess, Hekate protects women
when they leave their homes and guides and directs when one path
ends and another begins.
Hekate
is a crone goddess and makes up the Greek triple goddess
with Persephone (the maiden) and Demeter (the mother)
and represents the crone energies at their highest intensity.
She holds the magical powers of regeneration and is a Goddess
of choices, wisdom and of leaving the old behind to begin anew.
